Election Notice & Nominees

Board of Director Elections Nomination by Petition Procedure

The 68th Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019. On that date, three (3) of the seven (7) Board of Director seats will be filled pursuant to the Sun Federal Credit Union By-Law Election Procedures. The open seats will be for three-year terms. 

The eligibility requirements for petitioners, NOT nominated by the Committee, to be eligible for nomination “BY PETITION” for the Board of Directors, are:

  • not less than 18 years of age;
  • a member in good standing of Sun Federal Credit Union;
  • a completed application & signed statement of consent; and after verification
  • a collection of signatures of at least one percent of the membership (350) - each signature is subject to verification to ensure each is from a Sun Federal member in good standing.

Contested Election

If any position is contested, that is, there are more than three nominees for the three Board of Director seats to be filled as a result of the election process, electronic or mail ballots will be sent to each member on or before March 13 2019.

To vote in the 2019 Election, the voter must be a primary member in good standing and not less than 18 years of age.

Summary of the 2019 Annual Election Schedule

Pursuant to the Sun Federal Credit Union By-Laws, election of officers is by mail/electronic ballot. This affords every eligible member the opportunity to vote. In the event there is no more than one nomination for each available position, there being no seat contested, ballots will not be mailed out and parliamentary rule will apply and all nominees will be elected by acclamation at the Annual Meeting. There will be no nominations from the floor unless there is less than one nomination for each position available. The following is a summary of the relevant dates for
the 2018 annual election:

January 11, 2019: The Nominating Committee files the names of all successful nominees with the Secretary and notifies all applicants as to whether or not they have been nominated. Secretary posts the names of all Nominating Committee nominees at each Credit Union office.

By January 29, 2019: Those seeking nomination as a candidate for a Board of Director seat “By Petition” must submit a Nomination Packet.

By February 1, 2019: The nominating committee will provide the petition collection form to all verified nominees by petition.

March 1, 2019: Last day for nominations by petition to be filed with the Secretary of the Credit Union.

March 8, 2019: Nominations received by petition posted at each Credit Union office.

March 13, 2019: Mail/electronic ballots sent to members if any position is contested.

April 8, 2019: If any seat is contested,mail/electronic ballots must be received by the “tellers of the election.”

Board of Election Nominees

Bill Carr

Chairman, Board of Directors - Incumbent

Bill has been on the Sun Federal Board of Directors for 18 years. He is retired from SUN Refining and Marketing where he spent more than 38 years in a variety of technical, financial and operations positions. He holds degrees in Economics (University of Delaware), Business, and an MBA in Finance from Widener University.

Service at Sun Federal:

·        Asset Liability Management & Investment Committee  (ALM)

·        Volunteer Development Committee

Since joining, Sun Federal has thrived - - expanding its products, services and technology offered to members, while insuring a financially sound, member-centric and mission-driven credit union. During his 18 years of service, Sun Federal CU has grown $379 million in assets and 11,672 members.

 

Mike Jesionowski

Board Member- Incumbent

Mike has served on Sun Federal's Board of Directors for 34 years. Mike was responsible for Strategic and Capital Planning and Process Design when he retired from SUNOCO MidAmerica in 1998 after a 32-year career.  He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Ohio University and his MBA from Bowling Green State University.

Service at Sun Federal:

·        Capital Adequacy Group

Since joining, Sun Federal has thrived - - expanding its products, services and technology offered to members, while insuring a financially sound, member-centric and mission-driven credit union. During his 34 years of service, Sun Federal CU has grown $481 million in assets and 24,304 members.

  

Walter Barrett

Secretary, Board of Directors- Incumbent

Walt has served as secretary on Sun Federal's Board of Directors for 33 years. He is retired with 33 years of experience at SUNOCO MidAmerica. Walt spent 13 years in Operations followed by 19 years as Shift Superintendent. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Toledo.
